Two day Orientation Camp

          A two day Orientation Camp for students was organized by the Kaziranga Study Centre, J.D.S.G. College, Bokakhat at the college premises on 9th and 10th December, 2016.. During those two days students were acquainted with various issues of wildlife protection and its importance and techniques related with wildlife and its protection. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Jayanta Gogoi, Principal, J.D.S.G. College. As many as four technical sessions were held in those two days including an extra practical session on how to make a tent while camping in the wild. Sri Rabindra Sarma, Research Officer, Kaziranga National Park delivered his lecture on Kaziranga National Park and various issues as resource person. Sri Uttam Saikia, Honourary Warden, Kaziranga National Park also spoke as a resource person and his speech was mainly on one horned rhinocerous and various issues related with it. Dr. Rathin Barman, Deputy Director, Wildlife Trust of India also spoke on the occasion. In the 2nd day I.e. on 10th December, 2016 two sessions on various techniques of wildlife trekking and wildlife photography were delivered by Mr. Arif Hussain from Aaranyak and Sri Subhomoy Bhattacharjee from WTI. Lastly students were provided the techniques of camping in the wild Sri Uttam Saikia and Arif Hussain.



About the Centre

The Kaziranga Study Centre, J.D.S.G. College, Bokakhat was set up with a multi-dimensional purpose covering the key areas like Wildlife and its conservation, Research, Tourism, Awareness particularly among young generations, etc. regarding the perennial and burning problems of wildlife in India. The target population is the young students particularly who have much interest in wildlife and issues related with its conservation. The centre aims at making those students aware about the key areas of wildlife and its protection and the centre will try to achieve that through seminars, workshops, field studies, orientation camps, visit to wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, training on rehabilitation of wild animals, birds, etc. Research is another area where much importance has been given by the centre. Being within the vicinity of Kaziranga National Park, the centre would like to take the responsibilities regarding the future of wildlife in Assam in particular and India in general. The centre is committed towards wildlife and its conservation through various key measures.
